A festive afternoon
During your party, you’ll paint a real portrait in the style of Frans Hals, the most famous Haarlem painter. He’s known as the master of loose brushwork, but what does that actually mean? Can you paint in that style as well?
You’ll start by looking at the paintings by Frans Hals at the museum. Next, you’ll get behind the easel in our festive workshop room and paint to cheerful background music.
The birthday boy or girl will get extra attention during the party, there’ll be cake and lemonade and their guests can give them their birthday presents.
The workshop is led by an experienced museum educator. The birthday boy or girl and 14 others are welcome to attend the birthday party (friends, parents/supervisors and siblings).
This workshop is great fun for children aged 6–11* and can be booked for Wednesday and Sunday afternoons.
*Children under the age of 6 can’t participate. This also applies to siblings of the birthday boy or girl.
Note: this workshop isn’t the Discodip workshop we used to offer; that workshop is currently being updated. This workshop also ensures a fun afternoon of art, creativity and celebration.
‘It was a great children’s party! Dressing up and reenacting a painting was a lot of fun.’
