Get to know the 17th-century Haarlem master painter Frans Hals on a stroll through the city and walk in his footsteps as you follow the podwalk audio tour. Where did he live? Where did he work? Who were his patrons? What was his life like in Haarlem? Why are his portraits and other paintings of people so full of life and movement?
The podwalk starts at the Frans Hals Museum and guides you to St.-Bavokerk church (where Frans Hals is buried) on Grote Markt square. Next, you'll go to Haarlem City Hall and then the Oude Doelen on Gasthuisstraat (in the 17th century, this building housed the civic guard militia, the subject of Frans Hals’s world-famous civic guard portraits).
Dutch actress and presenter Monic Hendrickx recorded the Dutch version of the podwalk. An English version is also available. Use the QR code* below to listen to the podwalk on your mobile phone.
