About the artwork
In 1983, PINK and her husband and daughter spent twelve consecutive days moving each day to a different house in Haarlem-North. In this art project, known as Video Sketchbook, PINK highlighted how interchangeable a ‘happy’ heteronormative family life is. The artist and her family are not really recognisable as individuals in these ‘official portraits’. Above all, they symbolise the idea of the perfect family. Their faces have even been removed from the portrait in the middle.
