About the artwork
A group of nine figures stand against a deep indigo background. This group portrait documents Lorian Gwynn’s residency at ‘De Ateliers’, an artists’ institute in Amsterdam, particularly the friendships she forged over those two years. She regards her fellow residents as family. “It’s called Family Portrait because during that time we evolved from colleagues to friends and were together like a family in the building, and we learned a lot from each other.”
