Among the many nude portraits in the Frans Hals Museum – most of them painted by male artists, from the male gaze – artist and queer activist Yamuna Forzani presents a new perspective. This tapestry is a self-portrait of Forzani in shibari – a Japanese form of bondage – that celebrates the liberation of the femme queer body. The art work has several layers, creating relief in the surface.
