Grote kerk (st.-bavokerk) church
Grote Markt square is the beating heart of Haarlem. Grote Kerk church, also known as St.-Bavokerk, has dominated the skyline for centuries. The silver tones of its carillon still ring out over the city. This is where Frans Hals lies buried. He died in 1666 at over 80 years old. The people of Haarlem honoured their master painter by burying him at this prominent church.
